The University of Texas at Austin, founded in 1883, is the major research university and the largest institution of The University of Texas System. The University of Texas at Austin, commonly known as UT or Texas, is a flagship institution having more than 48,000 students, 2,700 faculty, and 19,000 staff members, and is dedicated to improving the quality of life of the people of Texas and the United States through the core values of learning, discovery, freedom, leadership, individual opportunity and responsibility. According to US News and World Report, UT is ranked as the best public university in the State of Texas.

UT offers more than 100 undergraduate and 170 graduate degree programs, continuing studies, and a number of research units. The UT contains 16 colleges and academic units offering undergraduate and graduate degrees including liberal arts, natural sciences, nursing, pharmacy, social work, business, law, communication, engineering, and fine arts etc. The various colleges and academic units are School of Architecture, McCombs School of Business, College of Communication, College of Education, College of Engineering, College of Fine Arts, Jackson School of GeoSciences etc.

The Continuing & Extended Education Division includes Distance Education Center, Professional Development Center, Petroleum Extension Service, and University Extension etc offering certificates, credit towards baccalaureate degrees, master’s degrees, and high school diplomas. The UT has more than 90 research units working in several new, interdisciplinary areas, including nanotechnology and material engineering for next generation semiconductors. The Texas Advanced Computing Center supports over 600 projects in the field of natural sciences, engineering and business.

To get admission at University of Texas, applicants needs to complete and submit the online Texas Common Application, pay the fees, submit copies of transcript from senior college, and test score of GIAC, etc. To get admission in US Graduate, the requirements needed are a bachelor’s degree, a grade point average of 3.0, official GRE or GMAT score, letter of reference, and recommendation for acceptance by Graduate Studies Committee. The Office of Student Financial Services assists the students in applying for federal, state, and institutional funds available.
